Ensembles

If God has blessed you with the incredible gift of talent for creative expression, you'll find a vibrant, thriving musical community at Malone.

For music majors and non-majors alike, our musical ensembles provide opportunities for musical growth, relationship-building, and creative outlet which can enhance whatever degree you pursue.

Whether you sing or play the piano or a symphonic instrument, we encourage you to participate in our choirs, bands, and other small ensembles. You will grow as a musician and gain other skills which can be used long into your professional life.

Scholarships are also available for participation in our musical ensembles.

Grow as a musician through ensemble participation:

University Chorale

Known for its inspirational and eclectic programming, the Malone University Chorale is a mixed chorus dedicated to the performance of choral music from many times and places, including sacred choral classics and contemporary choral works. The Chorale sings throughout the region at area schools, churches, and community venues.

Amplified

The Malone University Chamber Choir is an advanced choral ensemble of mixed voices, selected by audition. This highly selective choir performs several styles of music, from a cappella classics to contemporary small-group works. Past performances include joining the Tuscarawas Philharmonic and Chorus, a tour through Italy, and a service-learning trip to the Republic of Kenya.

Piano Ensemble

The Piano Ensemble studies and performs music written for piano duet (four hands at one piano) and music written for piano duo (two pianos with one performer at each piano). The repertoire is chosen from a wide variety of styles including music from the classical, pop and sacred genres. Students rehearse in the piano lab as well as in the piano studios. Members of the Piano Ensemble perform at departmental recitals.

Flute Ensemble

This chamber ensemble performs without a conductor, giving students a true chamber music experience. It utilizes four different instruments in the flute family, including the piccolo, alto flute and bass flute. The repertoire includes a variety of musical styles, from classical arrangements to popular tunes and holiday music. Students who wish to participate in the Flute Ensemble are also required to take Applied Flute lessons.

Percussion Ensemble

Percussion Ensemble is a flexible ensemble of instruments performing a variety of works from the literature, chosen based on the proficiency of the participants. The group performs throughout the semester and is directed by Mr. Scott Thomas.
