Mr. Jason Wyse, Director of Bands

Jason Wyse serves as Director of Bands, Coordinator of Instrumental Studies, and Director of Music Educator Preparation at Malone University in Canton, OH, where he directs the University Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble, and the Pioneer Spirit Marching Band, while teaching courses in music methods, music theory, conducting, and applied horn, and serving as recruiting coordinator for the Department of Music. Previously, Previously, Mr. Wyse has served as Director of Bands at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School (OH) and Punxsutawney Area High School (PA).

Mr. Wyse is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts in Music Education degree from Boston University, having earned a Master of Music in Wind Conducting from The Ohio State University in 2003 and a Bachelor of Music degree from Grove City College in 2001.

Mr. Wyse is a member of the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA), the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA), the American Society for Composers and Publishers (ASCAP), and the Christian Fellowship of Art Music Composers (CFAMC). He has been recognized as an Ohio Department of Education “Master Teacher,” an honorary member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, a Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction, and has been listed in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers and National Honor Roll’s Outstanding American Teachers.   

As a composer, Mr. Wyse has written music for both instrumental and choral ensembles, with music published by Wavefront Music and Murphy Music Press. In 2019, the original composition Inner Resolution (for trumpet and wind ensemble) was performed at the international conference for the World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles in Buñol, Spain, as a finalist in the WASBE Composition Competition.
