Harold Krisher | 1970 |
Formation of the Sigma Zeta chapter during my time at Malone. Was able to attend our 50th year reunion when Malone hosted the national meeting in 2019.
My education at Malone prepared me for a career in IT. I started as a programmer then advanced to programmer/analyst during the first 8 years in IT. I then spent time as an IT director at Genie in Alliance where I handled the system conversion to a mainframe based online and batch system. I later managed the implementation of JD Edwards to handle all manufacturing, distribution and financial for Genie. After leaving Genie, I managed the implementation of SAP for the IT group at Wabash National Corporation. I am back in Ohio now with my two daughters and their families. I lost my wife of almost 50 years in March just before Covid-19 shut things down. |
Phyllis (Meshel) Onset | 1970 | The various camping trips with Dr. Charlie King. It was the first time I was allowed to get dirty so I had lots of fun. He took us to WV. I think this is the place where I nearly fell into a river. Thank you Galen Decker for grabbing onto me as I slipped. To unglaciated sections of Ohio. To bogs where our boots sometimes got filled with water. Cindy Brady Johnson should remember this. To underground caverns in the Teys Valley in WV where I found an albino blind salamander. Since I can't swim, this was definitely memorable as the water kept climbing up my chest! My former husband Jim & I visited Charlie during our trip to the National Parks. It was so good to be with him again. Once again in the presence of my teacher. I came to Akron after graduating from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Theological School in 1977 to serve as the Youth Director at Annunciation Church. I was one of the first three women to graduate from the seminary & earned a M.Div. & the first woman to serve as a Youth Director in the Greek Archdiocese {over 500 churches]. During that time I served as the Director of the Office of Religious Education for the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Pittsburgh, which includes 50 churches in OH, PA & WV for 21 years. I was the first woman to hold such a position. I travelled among the churches, offering Workshops for teachers, teaching materials, Newsletters & a Website. My Bishop reminded me that I was a pioneer among women serving the Orthodox Church. I was married for 21 years & blessed with two daughters. Daughter Michelle & husband Matt Cooley have given me three grandchildren to cherish: Cora Louise [6], Francine Claire [5] & Simon Thatcher [3]. They live in Stow. Daughter Maria & husband Ant hony D'Orazio live in Columbus with their two dogs, two snakes & Porsche. I have been involved in International Orthodox Christian Charities with provides aid to worldwide to people of all backgrounds and is able to guarantee delivery of supplies and food by working with the Orthodox Churches worldwide. While chair of the Akron IOCC Committee for five plus years, we were able to collect $100,000 & assist the International Institute resettle 40 Bosnian families in the 1990's. The Bosnian people included Muslims, Roman Catholics and Orthodox Christians. For my efforts for IOCC, I was awarded IOCC's first National Good Samaritan Award. Now that I'm retired, I tend my four flower gardens. Little did I realize when I planted these in my 60's how much work they could be in my 70's. But that is our life, isn't it. As we get older, our lives change. But our Lord is always with us to lead us or lean on. |
Dale Winnig | 1974 |
Chapel Currently in Pittsburgh, PA and semi retired delivering meals on wheels 3 days a week. |
Raeann (Wyss) Sanor | 1995 |
The Gigana Hugana Banana Split contest was always so much fun! It was especially fun the year friends and I dressed as doctors nurses and patients. We ate our banana splits out of bedpans! (brand new, totally clean bedpans.) I don't remember exactly which prize we won, but we did win something! I am currently working at Malone with two college aged daughters (one at Malone). |
Amy Chabk | 1995 | White Water Rafting
I currently live in Birdsboro, PA (60 miles from Philadelphia). After college, I went to work for Boscov's which is the largest family owned department store for 18 years and then decided to leave and pursue a new opportunity at Godiva Chocolatier where I was employed for 7 years. Unfortunately, my position was eliminated due to the pandemic so I am currently looking for a new start! Waiting for God to open the next door on my journey! |
