2018 MSN + BSN graduates = 100% pass rates!

The School of Nursing & Health Sciences is thrilled to announce that each 2018 graduate of both the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs successfully completed licensure or certification exams on their first attempt. 

“We’re so proud of our graduates,” said Deb Lee, Dean of the School of Nursing & Health Sciences. “This is an awesome time to be teaching, mentoring, and walking alongside nursing students at Malone University. We’ve done some research and believe that this is the first time that both undergraduate and graduate nursing classes achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the first attempt.” 

The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree at Malone allows graduates to apply for certification exams offered by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to become a family nurse practitioner (FNP) or an adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner (AGACNP). While the first-attempt passage of the NCLEX for BSN graduates is easier to track, not all certifiers track first-time passage rate for advanced practitioners. 

“This program has given me such an appreciation for and deep pride in my profession that I don’t think I had before, and I’ve been a nurse for five years,” said Kathryn Bash ’18, an acute care nurse practitioner at the Cleveland Clinic in the medical intensive care unit.  “I’m really excited to get to fulfill this role like the nurses I’ve really looked up to and admired.”
