Malone partners with the Strengthening Stark Foundation to offer Practical Problem Solving workshop for area leaders
"Practical Problem Solving: Tools for Organizational Growth" is created for those working in area businesses, non-profits and those wishing to make a difference in their community. Four sessions will be offered on-campus and remotely: July 24-25 and August 7-8
“Covid-19 has challenged every organization’s business model and highlighted how important it is that businesses and non-profits continue to develop leaders within their workforce,” said Malone Provost Greg Miller. “Healthy communities need leaders who can think critically, creatively, and collaboratively. The workshop will develop within participants an understanding of managerial methodologies and the human variable in decision making.”
The workshop will be taught by two experienced business educators. Laura Foote serves Malone University as an associate professor of management studies and holds a doctorate in adult learning. Joining Foote in team-teaching the workshop will be Bari Courts, who teaches as an online instructor at Malone in the areas of problem-solving and management courses.
“The workshop is designed not only for those wishing to advance their careers but also for those interested in becoming better thinkers,” said Foote. “Creative, critical, and divergent thinking and knowing how to implement problem-solving processes are essential personal and professional skills in an increasingly complicated world.”
Cost for the workshop is $500 and those who finish the course will earn the Certificate in Practical Problem Solving, a credential approved by the Higher Learning Commission and the Ohio Department of Education.
“This program is a great example of Stark County organizations coming together for the betterment of our region,” said Miller. “We’re going to strengthen our workforce by developing skilled problem solvers. Those who go through the program will also earn a credential that future employers will value.”
