Malone received the following recognitions for excellence in workplace safety:

Last spring, Malone received three awards from the Stark County Safety Council, one of more than 80 safety councils in Ohio made up of local organizations dedicated to the safety of their employees. Participating companies with the highest safety records during the year are honored at the annual awards banquet.

Malone received the following recognitions for excellence in workplace safety:

The Group Award: given to companies with the lowest incident rate in each group
The 100% Award: earned upon working an entire year without a lost-time injury
The Special Award: for companies that accumulated 500,000+ hours worked with at least six months without a lost-time injury within the year

Administered by the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Division of Safety and Hygiene, Malone faculty and staff attend monthly training meetings to receive credits that keep institutional workers’ compensation rates low. Monthly trainings examine and resolve potential and existing safety problems and inform participants about new safety techniques, products and services. The Council also directs safety campaigns throughout the county to promote a greater interest in the prevention of occupational accidents and disease.

“We want to thank all Malone employees for their willingness to work with the Facilities Department and Campus Safety over the last year to maintain a safe working environment,” said Kris Vincent, facilities manager. “In particular, the time and efforts of those who attend the monthly training meetings have reduced Malone’s annual premium to Workers’ Compensation by over $100,000. We could not have accomplished that without your help!”
