Malone University to host Inter-Campus Clash
All Stark County universities will be represented
Malone University is the host of this year's Inter-Campus Clash, a public speaking competition among Stark County colleges at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 25 in the Silk Auditorium of Mitchell Hall. Students from Kent State University Stark, Stark State College, Walsh University, University of Mount Union, and Malone University will participate.
"This competition allows Stark County communication professors an opportunity to collaborate for the purpose of helping our students test and refine their persuasive speaking skills," said Jason Moyer, chair of the Department of Communication, Performing, and Visual Arts at Malone.
The first prize winner of the third annual competition will receive a $300 cash prize, and the winning school will receive the trophy for the academic year. One finalist from each university will receive a $50 gift card. Last year's winner is Taylor Lee of Stark State College.
This event is graciously sponsored by Tracy and Randall Stevens and Dominion Energy. Tracy’s great aunt, Isabel, faced many challenges in her life and while never finishing high school, she encouraged Tracy from a young age to obtain an education. As a result of Isabel’s encouragement, Tracy has spent her career helping educate through corporate jobs and as adjunct faculty at Kent State, always holding Isabel’s love of learning in the forefront of her efforts. Tracy has shared that Isabel thoroughly would have enjoyed this speech competition, just as she did when Tracy was practicing her presentations as an undergrad.
