The 2018 John Woolman Lectures will feature Rebecca Konyndyk DeYoung, Professor of Philosophy at Calvin College. She will present on the subjects of her two most recent books: Glittering Vices: A New Look at the Seven Deadly Sins and Their Remedies and Vainglory: The Forgotten Vice.
This year's John Woolman Christian Scholar Lecture Series will feature Rebecca Konyndyk DeYoung, Professor of Philosophy at Calvin College Wednesday, March 21 and Thursday, March 22 at Malone University. About Konyndyk DeYoung
Rebecca Konyndyk DeYoung has taught ethics and the history of philosophy at Calvin College for 20 years. She is the author of Glittering Vices: A New Look at the Seven Deadly Sins and Their Remedies, and Vainglory: the Forgotten Vice. Her articles on various virtues and vices have appeared in numerous anthologies and journals. She received The Character Project’s Book and Essay Prize for her chapter on courage in Being Good: Christian Virtues for Everyday Life and the C. S. Lewis Book Prize for Glittering Vices. Dr. DeYoung lectures widely on the seven capital vices and character formation at colleges and universities, churches, on Capitol Hill, and in correctional facilities.
