Individualized academic advising
Academic advising is offered through 1:1 advice with a faculty member in partnership with the Center, which supports students as they change majors and select coursework.
The Center for Student Success is a centrally-located hub that connects students to the resources they deserve. These services are personalized and offered across a variety of mediums. The Center works in partnership with faculty and staff on campus to fully support all Malone students. Center personnel have the expertise to meet the individual needs of each student.
The Center’s location in the Cattell Library is a recently-renovated space that provides access to state-of-the-art technology as well as comfortable and adaptable spaces where students can work with faculty partners.

Students who are undeclared meet with our academic adviser during Advising Week to create their schedules; she helps students transition to faculty advisers when they’re ready to declare a major.
Monthly ExPos are one-hour workshops, hosted by CSS, to help students reach their academic and career goals. Past topics include test-taking, study skills, library resources and research, mental health, job preparation, and budgeting.
Student retention is a campus-wide effort! Our retention adviser offers 1:1 confidential help so Malone students receive quick solutions to problems and a path to get back on track so they can graduate on time.
CSS offers ACT Residual testing for incoming students, and CLEP testing (developed by the CollegeBoard) that presents students the opportunity to earn college credit for current knowledge in a particular subject area. Also available are placement tests and testing accommodations for those with documented disabilities.
Malone Credit by Examination is available for current Malone students who desire to prove proficiency and earn credit for some courses.
Accessibility Services are available to registered students who have qualifying disabilities so they may take full advantage of their educational opportunities.
The director of accessibility services serves as a confidential advocate to students not only for academic accommodations, but also as they navigate social and residential implications of a qualifying disability.
Tutoring is for everyone! Free peer tutoring is offered for most 100 and 200-level undergraduate courses, as well as study skill/accountability tutoring for students on academic probation. Most tutoring occurs in the Center, but peer tutors are also present in 100-200 biology labs for student assistance.
Professional tutoring is a fee-based program available upon request and availability. Space is limited and priority is given to students with qualifying disabilities.
