Adjunct: Director, Center for Professional Development and Licensure

Status: Part time, 25-29 hours per week

The Director administers and directs the Center for Professional Development (CPD) & Licensure. The position is part time, contracted each semester up to 29 hours per week.

Qualifications:

  • An academic, research, or experiential focus on professional development in the P-12 classroom.
  • A teaching credential with a minimum of three years of P-16 teaching experience.
  • Successful administrative experience, including budget development and control
  • Proven entrepreneurial vision and leadership qualities
  • Master’s degree in Education required; terminal degree in Education (preferred)
  • Display a high degree of enthusiasm, self-pacing, and confidence to maintain PD and workshop sessions

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Initiate, coordinate, oversee, and implement professional development opportunities for P-12 teachers in collaboration with local school districts
  • Develop PD opportunities that would include distance learning and off-campus delivery
  • Provide oversight of PD instructors; adjunct acceptance, academic content, and syllabi rigor
  • Coordinate with the Chair of education in planning Malone Education conferences
  • Prepare and monitor the budget for CPD
  • Represent School of Education at state licensure meetings
  • Coordinate grant and research initiatives in studying and disseminating findings on professional development programs
  • Coordinate with University Relations (UR) for the marketing of CPD workshops and p-12 PD sessions

The mission of the Teacher Education Program is to, in collaboration with liberal arts faculty and PK-12 educational partners, provide a biblically-based education which prepares knowledgeable, reflective, collaborative educators committed to serving others in order that all individuals may learn and develop to their fullest potential and interact with each other and their environment with respect, compassion, and fairness.

The motto of the Teacher Education Program is "Educators Serving Together," supported by our theme verse, I Corinthians 12:14, "For the body is not one member, but many." Educators must recognize that communities, including educational communities, are diverse and have unique values and needs.

Our purpose and goals are focused on preparing candidates committed to serving others collaboratively and who demonstrate through their knowledge, skills, and dispositions competencies which promote the growth of each learner.
