Assistant Professor of Accounting

Position: Assistant Professor of Accounting, non-tenure track
Starting date: Fall 2023

Department: Department of Business and Technologies

The Department of Business and Technologies (BUS TECH) is responsible for the effective development and delivery of the department’s curriculum and advising department majors. In addition, the department assists other university areas in recruiting new students to the university and participates on faculty and university committees. The department focuses on quality teaching and student-centered learning.

Employment Status: Faculty, full-time, nine-month contract (12 month pay period), non-tenure with flexibility in scheduling.

Position Summary: The position is responsible for preparing and teaching a wide variety of accounting courses as well as advising accounting majors toward academic, career, and life success.

 Position Responsibilities:
       Delivery of on-campus and online instruction
o   Teach 12 credit hours each semester; 24 credit hour load that could include a variety of the undergraduate courses in the accounting major:
         ACCT 211 Principles of Accounting I
         ACCT 212 Principles of Accounting II
         ACCT 311 Intermediate Accounting I
         ACCT 312 Intermediate Accounting II
         ACCT 313 Cost Accounting
         ACCT 411 Advanced Accounting I
         ACCT 412 Advanced Accounting II
         ACCT 421 Tax Accounting I
         ACCT 422 Tax Accounting II
         ACCT 423 Auditing Theory 
NOTE: Course changes may be made within the department based on faculty qualifications and department needs (undergraduate/graduate level). 
o   Develop/revise course curriculum and other course materials required to deliver course information in an understandable and interesting manner to ensure students achieve the course learning outcomes
o   Utilize Moodle (e-learning management system) for all class instruction
         On-campus: Personal master--syllabus, news forum, question forum, gradebook, calendar)
         Online: Moodle master
       Academic Advising
o   Assist students with the development of their Program of Study (POS)
o   Assist students in developing educational and career goals through Pendle Hill initiatives (Malone University Night with the Accountants – internships)
o   Active participation in professional associations (i.e., Institute of Management Accounting (IMA) Akron Chapter; Ohio Society of CPAs; American Accounting Association (AAA); Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA)
       Serve on project-based task force teams in regards to BUS TECH strategic/operational initiatives
       Student Learning Outcomes: Evaluation and Assessment (ACBSP Accreditation)
       Assist the department in partnership with University Relations and Admissions to recruit and retain students. Sufficient coverage for all admission/recruiting events.

Position Qualifications:
       Ph.D. in Accounting, Tax Accounting, Accounting Technology, Auditing or closely related field completed by the date of application preferred
       M.S. in Accounting, or closely related field required
       Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required
       Professional accounting experience (5 years)
       Ability to teach day, evening, and or weekend classes or through multifaceted teaching strategies: remote synchronous/asynchronous
       Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations
       Experience that validates a strong commitment to professional development and scholarly research
       Demonstrated ability to work effectively in groups and to produce high-quality work while working independently
       Commitment to the Christian faith and the university’s mission, foundational principles, and educational goals.
       Commitment to faith and learning in the academic discipline

Malone University
